Universal Design: Applied to web design, universal design is creating web sites that are accessible to people with a wide range of abilities, disabilities, and other characteristics. Universally designed sites accommodate individual preferences and abilities – that is, the design is user-centered – and communicate necessary information. Application of universal design principles minimizes the need for assistive technology, results in sites compatible with assistive technology, and makes web content more usable by everyone, not just people with disabilities.

Principles of Universal Design
1. Be consistent in your page design
2. Enhance clarity with good design
3. Don't use color alone to communicate meaning
4. Use good contrast between foreground and background
5. Avoid flashing, flicker, and unnecessary animation
6. Create flexible width design when possible
